Sketchout!

I've been ignoring my sketchbook for some time now... but here are some recent developments.

Busy Nov/Dec

Heres a sample of some stuff I've been working on. Top two are keyframes in a couple of sequences I'm finishing soon. The bus is a prop for a freelance animation job I got doing some opening credits for a video. The bottom one is the background of a Xmas card I'm making... coming soon!

Orlando Leguizamon - Preproduction

The last month or two, a friend called Mauricio Nieto and I have been working on the preproduction of a short film we have in mind. It's a news piece on a "Verdulero" (a guy who sells vegetables in a market). Were still ironing out the preproduction at the moment, but progress is slow because we're both doing this in our spare time. Here's some preproduction stuff.

The Persistent Professor Heinz and The Elusive Yeti

Here is my graduation short called The Persistent Professor Heinz and The Elusive Yeti, at last I've had the time and the resources to put it out there in the public eye. I made this in my final year at Bristol School of Animation (UWE) over a period of 7 months out of which 2 were dedicated to pre-production and the rest were spent on production and post production. After 1 year and a half studying animation this project was really challenging both in the technical and the artistic.

Process:
1. It was hand drawn using paper and pencil
2. Cleaned and scanned
3. Colored in Photoshop
4. Composited in AfterEffects
5. Editing was done using Premier

Sketchbook July-August 09'

Finally a post... after months here is some new stuff from my latest sketchbook, its a mix of everything I was looking at during the past month. I was focusing on trying difrent styles and source materials, I used a lot of photos and books for inspiration.

As a side note a friend from the Gobelin Summer School told me how someone she knows was completeing a sketch book a week! hopefully I might train myself to reaching that dedication.

Poster campaign for the Bristol and Avon Constabulary.
We came second place and still got a cash reward!
This idea was developed my myself and designer Hemel Dave.

Typo poster, pro-royalty.
We had to pick an issue and defend its point of view.
